Find the location where you are
Press "0" in the Google Maps BlackBerry and you'll see a blue dot showing your location on a map if your BlackBerry has GPS. If not, you will see a blue dot surrounded by a blue circle. It shows your approximate location, based on information associated with the nearest cellular tower.
Looking for anything you need
First, move the map to the area of your interest by using the menu command "Move Map" or "Find Location" on Google Maps BlackBerry. Then select "Find Business" from the menu and enter the type of business you want to find, like "hotel" or "copy center." Google Maps will display a red flag on the map to make this type of business location. Then just click on the flag for the business name, address and phone number in question.
Get directions
Try one of the following ways to get directions:
- Search and find your destination on the map. Press the number key a second time to show additional options. Then click "Directions to here" or "Directions from here" and enter the address data. Press 3 ("Start directions") on the keypad, and you will see the instructions step-by-step to get to your route.
- Select "Directions" from the application menu and enter the source address and destination address, either by typing them or choose them on the map. Then press 3 to see the directions for your route.
Viewing Satellite View
Maybe you want to see how your neighborhood looks like from a satellite, or may want to look at the actual physical characteristics of the map, like the lake or tennis court, so it will clarify the direction of driving. To get a satellite view on Google Maps, do I just select "Satellite" from the application menu. As with regular maps, you can zoom in to maps to see it up close, or zoom out to enlarge the view.
Check out Traffic Conditions
You can access information about local traffic by pressing the 7 key on when you're looking at a map or by choosing "Show Traffic" from the options menu. The color of the route showing the road conditions. Traffic on the route shown in green if it moves normal, while yellow indicates a vehicle on a route that moves slowly, and congestion is conditioned by a red mark. Meanwhile, when the information is not available will be stated by the route of gray. If the report is not available, the screen will display the message, "Traffic info is not available in this area".
Google Maps continues to add features for users of BlackBerry and other mobile phones. New features allow users to find routes on public transport in over 50 cities around the world. Choose a starting point and end point, and transit features that will show you a choice of transit and tariffs and then guide you to choose the appropriate route and stations you want.
You also can zoom in on various parts of the route map and even convert to satellite view to see better where the bus stops. And you can use the transit information to estimate how long the trip will take.
